Our signature 409GSM Double Heavyweight T-shirt is now available in four distinct shades of blue, dyed with “Awa Indigo,” the traditional practice of indigo dyeing from Tokushima Prefecture. So revered is this method that it has been designated as an important intangible cultural property of Japan. The dye house is deeply involved in every stage of the dye making process: from growing and harvesting the indigo to drying and fermenting the dye – all through a meticulous, nearly year-long process that is completely chemical-free. This hands-on journey from planting the seed to dyeing ensures unparalleled quality and authenticity.

Each T-shirt is hand-dyed, dipped and wrung out repeatedly until the perfect shade of indigo is reached. After sun drying, the T-shirt presents an initial dry touch but is designed to soften and age gracefully with each wash. The indigo dye has a natural inconsistent tone, and when worn the fading indigo dye unveils the fabric's subtle texture variations, adding unique character and depth.
